Shiptech America, LLC, was originally formed in October 1996 primarily to provide a turn-key Shipyard Preventive Maintenance and Repair Service to Detyens Shipyards, inc. The contract covered all Shipyard facilities, vehicles, machinery and equipment. After a few years, STA was awarded multi-year Government Contracts to perform long-term inspections, preventative maintenance and repair of overhead cranes, hoists, hangar doors and warehouse/commissary doors at several government installations in South Carolina, Kentucky, North Carolina and Georgia. During this period, STA became a certified AM General SBA Parts Distributor for he Southeast USA as well as providing AM General with subcontract HMMWV warranty services and training personnel

In 2004, STA was subcontracted by AM General to provide HMMWV Reset personnel for a Project in Kuwait. Since that time, STA (and it's sister company, Shiptech Technical Support Services, Inc.) has been subcontracted by AM General for HMMWV Reset Support Services and Warranty Work at various locations both in the Continental US and Internationally.

In addition to AM General support services, STA continues to support a number of other clients, most recently, sending a team of Field Service Representatives into Iraq to support a HMMWV Up Armor installation project for Armor Holdings, Inc.
